ATime to Be Born

On May 28th, 1929, on the beautiful island ofExuma in the settlement of Rolleville, a bouncing baby girl was born to Josephand Beatrice Bowe (both deceased), they named their bundle of joy, Gwendolyn. This bright light would continue her years on this Earth being God-fearing,kind, and loving to those she met.

EarlyLife

Asa young child, Gwendolyn was educated at the Exuma All-Aged School. She tookpride in everything she did and was grateful for her formal education.

The simplest pleasures in life brought greatjoy to Gwendolyn. At a young age she loved fishing with her father and learningabout life. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her dailyactivities. She was a wonderful daughter and sister, the person who was alwaysthere when needed.

ATime to Work

Gwendolynalways strived to be her best self. As a young married woman she desired abetter way of life for her family; therefore, in 1955 she moved to NewProvidence to accomplish her dreams. Upon her arrival to the city, she attendedSacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, then moved onto St. Bede’s Catholic Church.St. Bede’s would become her church-home and she would remain an active memberfor several decades. Throughout the years, Gwendolyn would be blessed with theexpansion of her family thirteen children and one step daughter.

She was a loyal employee. Her first and onlyemployment was as a housekeeper for Vispha, Margaret and Gail Lowe, Calvert,Clara, Vernon and Shelia Russell. Gwendolyn enjoyed caring for others and lovedspending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals.

Upon her retirement, she filled her home withlove and light. After many wonderful working years, she then spent most of hertime with family and friends.

ATime to Rest

Mom as she was affectionately called, lovedher children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren immensely. Her pleasantpersonality was contagious. Her favorite pastime was playing monopoly andboard-games with family members. Her smile lit up every room as she took joyand delight from the simple things in life. She also enjoyed reading her bible, family activities, gardening, going to morning mass, singing in the choir, participating in all of the church functions, and was an active member in theLegion of Mary.

Momgave generously to all she met, and always had a treat for the children. OnAugust 7th 2022 after a short illness she was called to receive her heavenlyreward. Her laughter and love were felt by all and will be sadly missed.
